OUR GOAL: To help you recover by facilitating the grief process with the support of other people who can identify with your pain and sorrow.
WHAT IS PET GRIEF?
When you lose a pet, your beloved companion, confidant, perhaps you feel like a part of you is lost. This creature may have been the one who never left your side in times of trouble. The death of your pet is one of the most difficult losses you may ever feel. This loss is sometimes made more painful by society's seeming lack of support for pet grief.
This is a program designed to help people in the community process their feelings of grief in a sharing, supportive format. Sharing these feelings and experiences may be helpful in recovery from the pain of grief.
This program is not meant to replace individual counseling which can also be very helpful when dealing with personal issues of grief.
You are invited to share recovery.
Sharing feelings that surface surrounding your pet's death will help others and hearing other people's stories will help you.
Understanding physical, mental and emotional effects of grief can be comforting.
Topics at each meeting will vary depending on the needs of the participants at that session.
